EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY

 

Eastern Connecticut State University, the state's public liberal arts
university serving approximately 5000 students, offers a wide range of
undergraduate majors in the arts and sciences and professional studies,
as well as selected graduate programs.  The School of Education and
Professional Studies builds on the University's strong foundation in
liberal arts and offers a variety of academic programs and experiences
for students to acquire the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values
necessary for successful performance in the professions.  The School is
comprised of five academic departments (Business Administration,
Communication, Economics, Education, and Health and Physical Education)
and the Graduate Division. 

Located in historic Windham County in the heart of eastern Connecticut,
Eastern Connecticut State University is midway between New York City and
Boston and only a short drive from Hartford, the state capital.

 


ASSOCIATE DEAN


School of Education/Professional Studies and the Graduate Division


 

Position Description: The Associate Dean supports the Dean in managing
the operations and activities 

of the School and assists the Dean with the following: semester
scheduling including coordination of graduate and undergraduate
offerings; graduate student admissions and activities (e.g., recruiting,
graduation); budgeting; faculty development; grant writing; research and
report writing (e.g., NCATE, Title II); conferencing; outreach; catalog
preparation; academic dismissals and appeals; and coordination of public
relations materials.  The Associate Dean may serve as Certification
Officer and process the University's recommendations for certification
of program completers.  The Associate Dean also acts 

as liaison to the School of Arts and Sciences in such matters as the
preparation of teachers.  Further responsibilities include acting as
liaison with a variety of on-campus offices in coordinating registration
and scheduling activities, and to internal and external
organizations/agencies as directed by the Dean.  Additional activities
include participation in distance learning, computer and other
technology-related activities, as well as developing and maintaining the
School's Website.   

 

Qualifications: At least three years of relevant administration
experience in higher education.  Master's degree required; doctorate
preferred.   Successful candidate must possess strong communication and
organizational skills, computer skills, and an ability to work in
collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.  Appropriate alternate
qualifications and experience may be considered.
