Eastern Connecticut State University invites applications for the
following vacancy in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics:

Head Women's Volleyball Coach/Assistant Sports Information Director

Full-time Non Instructional Faculty appointment (ten month) begins
August 2008.  Responsibilities:  Primary Assignment: All aspects of
coaching and program development for a highly competitive women's
volleyball team within institutional, conference and NCAA Division III
regulations, inclusive of scheduling, budget management, fundraising,
and recruitment and retention of student-athletes.  Secondary
Assignment: Assist the Sports Information Director in aspects of the
college's sports information office to include the writing of game
summaries and press releases; update website; assist in coordination of
home events in regards to media operations, statistics and videotaping;
and in the preparation of publications.  Qualifications:  Bachelor's
degree required; Master's degree preferred.  Evidence of successful
experience as a head coach or substantial assistant experience in
volleyball at the collegiate level as well as evidence of strong
recruitment of student-athletes within institutional guidelines.
Understanding of statistical needs of a variety of sports, writing
skills, computer skills, working knowledge and familiarity with
"StatCrew" software helpful.  Compensation is competitive and dependent
upon qualifications with an excellent benefits package.

Department: Environmental Earth Science

Position: Instructor - Sustainable Energy Studies

Qualifications: Master's  degree in science or education with an
undergraduate degree in physics, engineering, geoscience, or a related
field. Experience in teaching at the college level preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of renewable energy systems, national and global
energy issues, climate change science and related environmental issues.

Position Description:   Teaching courses in sustainable energy and
global climate change; advising students in the sustainable energy
studies program; supervising students on research and internship
projects; participation in course development projects; participation in
campus and community outreach programs to develop greater knowledge of
and interest in sustainability among faculty, staff, and the general
public; cooperation with the Institute of Sustainable Energy; assistance
in developing grants for research and program development .

Department: Department of Political Science, Philosophy and Geography

Position: one-year full time, non-tenure track Faculty 

Qualifications: The applicant should be Ph.D/ABD in philosophy with a
concentration in Ethics.   The successful candidate will teach
undergraduate courses in Ethics, Introduction to Philosophy, Logic and
Epistemology. Applicants should provide evidence of excellent teaching
and scholarly activity.
